PFUJ stalwart Majid Fauz dies
ISLAMABAD, Feb 2: Majid Fauz, 67, who remained an office-bearer of the Pakistan Federal Unions of Journalists for decades and was in the profession for over four decades died here in Islamabad owing to cardiac arrest.
Mr Fauz was based at Quetta and remained President of the Baluchistan Union of Journalists, and held a number of positions for years together.
He was one of the most vocal and front line leaders of the journalists in the province of the Baluchistan.
Throughout his carrier for more than four decades, he remained very active and fought for the cause of the freedom of press, rule of law and securing economic rights of the media persons.
He was also a member of the 6th Wage Board on behalf of the nominee. He also held various offices of the PFUJ, the Apnec, and the Quetta Press Club.
He leaves behind two sons and two daughters.
The PFUJ leadership, Mr Pervaiz Shaukat, President, and l Secretary Mr Shamsul Islam Naz have hailed his services for the cause of journalists in the country, and for the PFUJ General.
The office-bearers of various Unions of Journalists in the country have condoled his death, and said his services for the cause of profession and trade unions would always be remembered.
They prayed to almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the members of the bereaved family.
The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists expressed its sorrow over the sudden death of Mr Majid Fauz and termed it a great loss to the media community.
The PFUJ directed all its affiliated unions and media organizations to hold special condolence references at their respective offices.
