FAISALABAD: Nine police officials, including a deputy superintendent, have been booked in Faisalabad on charges of trespassing and torturing a minor boy and his father.

The officials, who have been booked by the Sargodha Road police, include DSP Investigations-III Zafarullah Niazi.

According to a complaint filed by one Syed Jawwad Ahmad Shah, tenth-grader Ahsan got into a quarrel with the DSP’s son on Monday. To avenge the fight, Niazi and eight other policemen forcibly entered his house and severely tortured Ahsan and his father. Ahsan was seriously injured and taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Residents staged a protest against this highhandedness on part of the police officials and blocked the main Sargodha Road where they had organised a demonstration.

Senior police officials took notice of the incident and a case was registered the police officials who were allegedly involved in the incident. SSP (Investigations) Mujahid Akbar has been appointed as the inquiry officer in the case.

Meanwhile, Niazi has denied any involvement in the incident, in which reportedly his elder sons are also involved. “Neither I nor any of my family members tortured Ahsan. I have been falsely implicated in this incident by the other party.”

But police chief Bilal Siddique Kamyana has assured that if the DSP is found guilty, strict action will be taken against him.
