The chief minister reprimanded Jhang District Police Officer Rao Abdul Kareem and ordered suspension of City Circle DSP Tahir Nawaz Warraich and SHO Mehr Saeed. The chief minister also directed the DPO to produce the evidence in the case before an anti terrorism court.
The orders were issued during the chief minister’s visit to the victim’s house in Chand Bharwana village. He expressed his concerns and sympathy for the victims and her family.
He also announced a Rs500,000 relief for the family and the girl’s admission to a nearby Daanish School.
Eelier, the victim’s father had said that he was a daily wage worker and had seven daughters and a son.
He said his daughter, the victim, had been a class two student. He said on her way back home from school on May 15, the accused, all in their teens, Muhammad Waseem, Kashif, Kamran and Ghulam Meeran had abducted her at gunpoint. He said they took the girl to Kamran’s house and raped her.
He said they had also shot video of her and taken pictures of the victim that they later used to blackmail the victim’s family. He said they had also threatened to kill his only son, if police were informed. He said the video had been shown to some of their relatives and residents of the area.
The chief minister was told that police had registered a case against the accused under Section 376 (II). Regional Police Officer Aftab Cheema said two of suspects, Kashif and Kamran, had been arrested, while Ghulam Meeran and Muhammad Waseem had been granted pre-arrest bail by a court.
The chief minister directed the police to seek cancelation of their bails and arrest them as soon as possible.
